An annual event, starting on Easter Saturday, and continuing on Easter Monday. This has expanded to a two-day event. It began in the 1930's with a dog team race, snowshoe races, running races, a tug-o-war and target shooting. Auctioning of Easter baskets was and is still a fund raiser. The Moravian Church is the only church in town. The Sunday service is held at 4:00 p.m. during summer, but 7:00 p.m. from September to June. There is no ordained minister resident in Makkovik. A group of volunteers take turns holding services.

Makkoviks annual Trout festival is taking place this year August 5th to the 12th. A week of sun, fun and games for all ages!
