The people of Makkovik are committed to maintaining a strong sense of community that is steeped in deep respect for family and a proud sense of place.

We continue to live (and respect) a lifestyle that is connected to the land and the abundance of natural resources which surround us. We are a people of the land.

Our young people are our greatest treasure and most important resource. The Inuit Community Government continues to invest in its youth, and will continue to provide programs, supports, and services to afford opportunities for growth and development for the youth of our community.

The sacrifices and contributions made by the Moravian missionaries continue to enrich and guide our lives, and we adhere to these teachings and principles in our daily lives.

We are a community built on respect. Respect for ourselves, for our elders, for our heritage and traditions, and for our land is at the core of all that we do.

We are deeply committed to maintaining and respecting the traditional skills and heritage of the Inuit people, and more fully developing ways and means of sharing these customs and skills for the world to see and appreciate.
