HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
CASUAL CALL - IN
Open to Both Male/Female Applicants
Makkovik, Nunatsiavut
This is a unionized position that reports directly to the Supervisor of Operations and Public Works.
Qualifications:
The Heavy Equipment Operator must have a minimum high school graduation, must be a certified heavy equipment operation, and must possess a valid driver's license with Class 3, 5, 8, and 9 endorsements. He must also be capable of being insured and maintaining insurance under the town's vehicle insurance and liability insurance policies.
Knowledge (and certification) in water testing and municipal water services, and a thorough understanding and knowledge of the installation and maintenance of municipal underground infrastructure is essential. Employees must also be capable of carrying out light carpentry work and routine repairs on municipal buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Scope of Work
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for providing relief support to full time-seasonal heavy equipment operators such as operation of heavy equipment and for carrying out repairs and ongoing maintenance of roads, underground infrastructure, and other duties relating to maintenance of the town's buildings, playing fields, facilities, trails and open spaces, tools, equipment, and for other related duties and responsibilities related to outside operations and public works.
Salary:
In accordance with the hourly rate and applicable northern allowance between the Makkovik Inuit Community Government and NAPE Collective Agreement.
