It the 25th year for Makkovik's Annual Trout Festival!

25th Annual Trout Festival- August 11th to August 15, 2015

The Town of Makkovik will be hosting the 25th Annual Trout Festival this summer from August 11th to August 15th, 2015. The fun-filled week will start off with beautiful fire works on Tuesday night and end on Saturday with a delicious community feast & dance with live entertainment…. Plus many great events in between for all ages to enjoy.
The official Schedule of Events will be posted very soon, and we will have a link posted on our website and facebook!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Tuesday August 11th
9:30am Build your own boat and paddle it in the water at Ranger Bight.
Ages 7-14 and 15 +

11:00pm Le Tour De Truite.4 day bike race. Meet at Council Office. Must wear bike helmet.
Ages 5-12

1:00pm Watermania! Down by the Museum. Bring a towel.

6:00pm Bingo
2x$1000 Jackpots to go.
All games $100.
$20 books only.
Selling 3-5pm at the Youth Center

8:00pm Trout Festival Parade, $25 Prizes awarded for Best Decorated: Bike, Truck/ATV, Stroller
with Trout Festival Theme.
Meet at the school at 7:45pm for judging.


10:00pm Fireworks at Hebron.

Wednesday, August 12th

10:00am Water War meets at Soccer Field Ages 7-14.
Must bring own water pistols.


12:00pm INNU MIKUN Free Dinner at the hall.

1:30pm Family Sand Sculpture Contest at Ranger Bight Beach.
$100 Prizes for best made & Most Creative Themed Sculpture.

3:00pm Swimming Race @ Fishermans Wharf.$100 1st place prize. Ages 13+. Bring a fitted Life Jacket. Men's and Women's Race.

4:00 PM Community Barbeque hosted by Vale Inco ltd, down on museum grounds

6:00pm Bouncy Castle at the Gym.

7:30pm Singles Crib Tournament at the hall.19+. $10 per player. Winner takes all. Tickets to be sold on items. Must Register by 5pm Tuesday, August 12.Late Registration is double

Thursday, August 13th

10:00am Le Tour de Truite. Bike Sprints
10:00am Museum Open House.

1:00pm Games for Kids
Ages 6 and under at the gym. Ribbons will be awarded to all participants.


1:30pm White Elephant 100 Years Birthday Bash.
At the Community Hall.

6:30pm Zombie Chase. All Ages
Meet at Council Office.

8:00pm Teen Fun at the Teen Center.
Ages 13-18. Games and Door Prizes to be won for games.


9:30pm Co-ed Dart Tournament at the Community Hall.
$5 per player: Register by Aug. 7. Late Registration will cost $10


Friday, August 14th
10:00am Le Tour de Truite

10:00am Slide Show at the Hall: Makkovik Plant Stories

1:30pm Trout Festival FaiR Carnival Games:Plinko, Dart Throw, Fishpond ,Archery, Golf Other Activities: Face Painting, Cyril the seal, Soccer Showdown


4:00pm Community Bar-B-Q at Museum Grounds. Sponsored by Aurora. Everyone is welcome.


6:00-7:00pm Fun time for ages up to 5 at the Teen Center. $50 for Best Costume Theme: Glow party

7:30-8:30pm Dance for ages 6-12 at the Teen Center.
$50 for Best Costume. Theme: Glow Party

7:30 pm Texas Hold'em Tournament $25 entry fee.
$500 Prize with a $100 Runner up Prize/
Must be Registered by 12 pm

10:00pm Teen Beach Fire at Ranger Bight. Food and Beverages provided.

Saturday, August 15th

9:00am Lace up for Diabetes Run/Walk. (3K, 5K, 10K) Starting on Museum Grounds. See Jodie Lane for Pledge Sheets.
Every $25 you raise, your name will be entered for a draw on a return trip to Goose Bay donated by Air Labrador.
Also drawing on other prizes.


10:00am Plant Treasure Hunt and Storybook. Meet at Community Hall.

3:00pm Homemade Mini Boat Race at the Dam
Ages 12 & Under.
Child must be accompanied by an adult.
$25 for 1st Prize


5:00pm Trout Festival Supper $5.00 a Plate. Smoked Trout, Trout Cakes, Fish and Brewis, Fried Trout, Turkey, Moose. Best Dessert $50.00 Best Smoked Trout $50.00
Wackiest hair-do $50.00

10:00pm-1:30am Trout Festival Dance. 19+ $5.00 Admission Theme: Animated Characters $100 Prize for Best Costume- Anyone causing a disturbance will be barred from any other Trout Festival Dance!
