EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - RECREATION ASSISTANT- EXTENDED TO OCTOBER 23RD, 2019 AT 5:00 PM
The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is seeking to hire 1(one) Recreation Assistant for 16 Weeks under the Inuit Pathways Work Experience Program (IPWEP). This position is open to both male and female applicants. The objective of the Work Experience Program is to hire unemployed individuals as an opportunity for these individuals to obtain valuable work experience in their desired occupations and/or exposure to the work environment to enhance career development. Note- those individuals that were already employed through WEP under Recreation Department- Recreation Assistant, do not qualify for this position.
Qualifications:
A beneficiary of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement
Currently unemployed and interested in pursuing a career in Recreation
Valid Code of Conduct
Duties:
Supervising adults and children under the age of 18
Assist with recreation programming at the Makkovik Arena, Youth Centre, Community Hall, & Gymnasium, Collection of fees at the Makkovik Arena, assisting Recreation Committee
Assist with Community and special events
Assistance with fundraising events such as Recreation Bingo, selling tickets, etc.
Plus any other duties as required by Director Recreation and Community Events and Recreation Youth Coordinator.
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week, hours of work will be scheduled around Recreation Programming ( may be required on weekends). Time off will be granted for overtime. Any overtime accumulated will have to be used before the end of the work term.
Rate of Pay : $11.54 per hour plus applicable vacation pay=$ 12.00 per hour
