JOB OPPORTUNITY

Makkovik Inuit Community was successful in receiving funding through the Community Enhancement Employment Program( CEEP)~Provincial Government to hire individuals requiring insurable hours to qualify for Employment Insurance.

THE EXPECTED PROJECT START DATE IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2019

As the sponsors( administrators), MICG is NOT responsible for the eligibility of this program. The Dept of Municipal Affairs is responsible for the project guidelines for CEEP which are the following:

• The hourly rate is minimum wage( $ 11.49) plus 4% vacation pay. The work week is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday( 40 hr per week)
• Individual must be currently unemployed, noting that those that are employed part time or on a casual basis do not qualify
• MICG will require pre-approval from the Dept of Municipal Affairs that an individual is eligible to work under this program before the MICG Hiring Committee can review an applicant.
• Individual must have worked 20 hours or more since his or hers last EI Claim.
• Individual is not qualified for CEEP if he or she needs more than 400 hours. The maximum hours given through CEEP is 400.
• Priority will be given to those individuals requiring the fewest hours to be eligible for Employment Insurance( This is a CEEP recommendation)
• Priority will be given to those individuals who have made every effort to take advantage of work available to them ( Note this is a MICG recommendation)

SCOPE OF WORK:

• General Community Clean up and Dumpsite Community Clean up
• Craft Making( Souvenir, patch blankets, etc)
• Construction of Cemetery Crosses and benches
• Snow shoveling for Seniors( 65 +) and the Physically and Mentally Challenged residents
• Assisting Recreation Staff during events and programming

HOW TO APPLY:

Applicants are responsible for submitting the following documentation in order to be considered for 2019-2020 CEEP:

1. Letter of Application to MICG- basic letter stating that you are interested in the job, and how many insurable hours you require.
2. Copy of ALL Record of Employment since his or hers last EI Applications or a copy of document from "My Service Canada Account" entitled " My Latest Claim".
3. Employee Declaration Form- Each applicant must complete an Employee Declaration Form, declaring how many insurable hours he or she requires. Available at Town Office

LETTER OF APPLICATION PLUS SUPPORTING DOCUMATION MUST BE SUBMITTED TO TOWN OFFICE BY TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, 2019 AT 3:00 PM BY EMAIL ( to info@makkovik.ca) , by fax( 709-923-2126) or DROP OFF TO TOWN OFFICE.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicant will not be considered for CEEP if all documentation is not received, as these documents are required in order for Dept of Municipal Affairs to review your application
