Employment Opportunity (pending funding)-Youth Assistant

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is seeking to hire a Youth Assistant position under the Inuit Pathways Work Experience Program(IPWEP). This position is open to both male and female applicants. The objective of the Work Experience Program is to hire unemployed individuals as an opportunity for these individuals to obtain valuable work experience in their desired occupations and/or exposure to the work environment to enhance career development.
Qualifications:
● A beneficiary of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement
● Unemployed or working less than 20 hrs per week
● Interested in pursuing a career in the Recreation field
● Valid Code of Conduct
● WHIMS and First Aid training is an asset
Duties:
● Supervising adults, and adolescents & children under 18 years of age
● Assist with Recreation and Youth Programming at the Makkovik Hall of Youth, Community Hall, and Gymasium.
● Assist with community and special events
● Other duties are required by Director Recreation and Community Events
Hours of Work:
● 40 hours per week, time off will be granted for overtime. Any overtime accumulated will have to be used before the end of work term.
Rate of pay:
● $ 10.00 per hour plus applicable vacation pay
Start Date and Work Term:
● September 09, 2013( tentative date ) for 28 weeks work term
