Municipal Worker
CASUAL CALL - IN
Open to Both Male/Female Applicants
Makkovik, Nunatsiavut
Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Operations and Public Works, the Municipal Worker will be needed to fill in while other public works staff are on leave and assist in a wide variety of duties including:
collection of household garbage, other special garbage collections scheduled such as bulk garbage
roads maintenance
repair and installation of underground infrastructure
maintenance of buildings
recreational playing fields, facilities, trails and open spaces
respond to other pressing needs or emergencies as might arise from time to time, and
Providing proper care for tools and equipment required for outside operations and public works.
Qualifications:
The Municipal Worker must possess a valid driver's license and be capable of being insured and maintaining insurance under the town's vehicle insurance and liability insurance policies.
Knowledge of a wide range of municipal operations and public works is essential, and municipal workers must be willing to be certified in water testing and municipal water services if requested to do so by the town. A basic understanding and knowledge of the installation and maintenance of municipal underground infrastructure is essential. Employees must also be capable of assisting with the repairs and maintenance of municipal buildings, facilities, and equipment, as required. Willingness to participate in ongoing training such as confined space, fall arrest, trenching, or other training provided by the town is required.
Salary:
In accordance with the hourly rate and applicable northern allowance between the Makkovik Inuit Community Government and NAPE Collective Agreement.
