Nomination for Candidates for the Executive Committee are now being accepted up to Friday, May 16th, 2014 at 4:30 pm.
Nomination may be filled by members of volunteer and non-profit organizations (and members at large) who support the aims and objective of the Makkovimiut Trust Incorporated.
Nominations forms are available at the Town Office and can be returned to the office once signed by the candidate accepting the nomination and by the proposer and seconder. Completed forms can be returned to the Town Office.

Please be advised that officials from the provincial Department of Environment and Conservation and the Department of Justice will be holding a public forum to provide information on the latest data on the George River Caribou Herd. The forum will also allow an opportunity to hear concerns from the public with the respect to the current provincial harvesting ban. Officials from the Nunatsiavut Department of Lands and Natural Resource will be present at all forum.

Marilyn Winters is applying for a business permit to operate a portable/mobile hairsalon business known as "Marilyn's Portable Hair Styling" which will provide hairstyling services to residents at their own homes. The business permit application will be reviewed at the next regular council meeting.
Council will be accepting any public comments in writing by email, letter or fax pertaining to this application up to Friday, November 08, 2013 at 4:00 pm.

Big hearts shone through again for the 2013 Mayor's March!!
AngajukKak Herbert Jacque would like to thank everyone who participated in the Mayor's March that was held on the evening of Wednesday, October 09, 2013. It was a beautiful fall evening in Makkovik, and residents walked along the water front on Moravian Street. There were over 65 participants and a total of $ 446.00 was raised for the NL Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Thank you everyone for your generous donations towards this worthwhile cause to help fight against heart and stroke disease in our province.
