Rachel Edmunds is applying for a business permit to operate a variety store at 20-22 Andersen Street . The business permit application will be reviewed at the a regular council meeting in June 2015.
Council will be accepting any public comments in writing by email, letter or fax pertaining to this application up to Tuesday, June 09 at 4:00 pm.

Mayor's March for Heart Disease and Stroke
"Communities with Heart"
The Makkovik Inuit Community Government will once again be hosting the Mayor's March to raise awareness and funds for Heart Disease and Stroke. Everyone is welcome to join in.
Pledges shall be collected and all proceeds shall go towards the NL Heart and Stroke Foundation of NL.
Date and Time: Tuesday, June 09, 2015 at 6:00 pm
Place: Meet at Town Council Office

Please be advised that rabies vaccinations are mandatory under the Makkovik Dog Control Regulations.
This year has already 9 case of rabies in Labrador, with one being a sled dog in Makkovik.
If you have any question about rabies or rabies vaccinations please contact the Nunatsiavut Government Department of Health.
Residents should report any siting of strange acting wild or domestic animals to the RCMP, Conservation Officer, or Inuit Community Government Office.

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is pleased to announce that the sea ice markers for the route between Makkovik-Hopedale and Makkovik-Postville has been put in place for the winter.
Preparation are under way to break the trail to Burnt Lake, however we are currently experience mechanical difficulties with the groomer.

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is pleased to announce that Perry Voisey and Andy Edmunds have been hired to harvest this year two moose licence for the Makkovik Inuit Community Government. The meat will be distributed to the community, pending a successful hunt. They will hold the licences for a period of thirty days. Pending their success, the Community Government is still collecting names of anyone interested in holding the licences for another thirty days or to the end of March (which ever comes first). The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is pleased to announce the Advance Water Treatment System is now ready to begin dispensing purified drinking water to the community.
The dispensing room is located behind the new fire hall on the north side of the building (facing the harbour).
Residents can go there to collect their own drinking water and please follow the instructions on the wall inside the dispensing room.
As you go in and out we ask that you make sure the door is closed to keep the room warm.
