Craft Making Project 2016

THIS JOB OPPORTUNITY IS PENDING FUNDING APPROVAL

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is seeking five experienced craft persons for the following positions to produce craft items including( but not limited to) slippers, mitts, change purses, key chains.

One(1) Craft Supervisor - $ 16.64 per hour
Four(4) Craft Persons - $11.44 per hour

Duration of Employment: April 04th, 2016 to May 06th, 2016 - Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm( 37.5 hours per week)

Deadline for Submission: Wednesday, March 30th, 2016 at 4:00 pm.

MOOSE HARVEST

Sealed bid(s) are being accepted from beneficiaries interested in harvesting two (2) moose (one moose per harvester) allocated under the Nunatsiavut Government 2015-2016 moose management plan.

Bids must include the slaughter, butchering, distribution and disposal of the meat to the community as determined by the Makkovik Inuit Community Government. In addition, the antlers (if any) to remain with the Makkovik Inuit Community Government. All tools, fuel, ammunitions, packaging and supplies associated with the above is to be covered under the bid.

Please note: these moose license can only be held for a period of 30 days.

Please submit your bids to the Council office by February 12, 2016 @ 4:00 pm.

Public Notice

Effective January 01, 2016, the Makkovik Inuit Community Government will become a new HST Registrant under Section 148.(1) (Small Suppliers) of the Excise Tax Act in accordance with the First Nations Goods and Services Act and Nunatsiavut GST Act.

This means that 13% HST(Harmonized Sales Tax) will be collected on all applicable goods and services sales . Examples of these taxable goods and services include sale of land, sales of equipment and or materials, rental of equipment, room rentals. Municipal Taxes are not subject to NGST/HST.

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government will be remitting to Canada Revenue Agency for these taxes on a quarterly basis.

PLEASE KEEP WATER RUNNING

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government is advising residents to prevent freeze ups to leave water running at all times.

Even during the warmer days the temperatures can drop rapidly in the evenings and freeze ups can occur when you least expect. The severity of each freeze up is different but taking proactive steps (leaving water running) will give you and the town an extra peace of mind.

25th Annual Trout Festival- August 11th to August 15, 2015

The Town of Makkovik will be hosting the 25th Annual Trout Festival this summer from August 11th to August 15th, 2015. The fun-filled week will start off with beautiful fire works on Tuesday night and end on Saturday with a delicious community feast & dance with live entertainment….
