The MICG would like to advise the public that the roads will have to be cleared from the dock to the stores until the last freight boat arrives.This is to ensure the safe transportation of supplies to the warehouse's.

Also, the airport requires fuel delivered which is essential so the road to the airport will have to be opened during this time and sanded if possible. (the sand/aggregate freezes in lumps) There are other domestic deliveries of fuel as well. The MICG will have to wait and see what the weather does in the coming days in this regard for snow clearing.
There are other contractors here as well doing work that is for the benefit of the community. Upgrades to the main ferry dock and power plant at NL Hydro. Heavy equipment will be needed in those areas.

Please keep water running to avoid freeze ups! (larger version)
The Makkovik Inuit Community Government strongly urges residents to keep the water running in their homes to avoid freeze ups.

Even during the warmer days, the temperatures can drop rapidly in the evenings and freeze ups can occur when you least expect. The severity of each freeze up is different but taking proactive steps (leaving water running) will give you and the town an extra peace of mind.

NEW SERVICE FEE FOR THAWING OF WATER LINES

Effective immediately, there will be a $120.00 service fee for anyone requesting assistance to thaw out water lines. Senior Residents, over the age of 65, will not be charged a service fee.

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government would like to remind the public that due to safety reasons, parking of vehicles or storage of boats is NOT permitted at the fireworks area( turn on Mink Trap Road). If there are any vehicles ( or boats) parked in this area already you are kindly asked to move it ( them) immediately. Ellen's View Line has been designated as temporary seasonal parking for vehicles( and boats).
