COVID -19 World Wide Pandemic effects on Makkovik Fish Plant

Over the last week there has been much information coming down from the Federal and Provincial Governments regarding the assistance programs and services for individuals and businesses.

As of 15 April 2020 there has been no announcement from the Federal Government (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) regarding the opening of the fishing season or if there will be a fishery at all.

Our fishing season usually do not start up until July, but what happens on the world stage regarding COVID-19 pandemic will have an effect on us here.

As soon as the Makkovik Inuit Community Government receives information in this regard we will pass it on to the public.

Thank you.
