Makkovik Inuit Community Government would like to notify the public that our staff who are now working from home, will not be available on March 26th, 2020 due to the LIA Day Holiday. We will continue to respond to council matters by telephone or email the following day March 27th, 2020.

Also, please note the following notice from Woodward's Oil:

Re: Operations Procedures

During this time, we wish to reduce or minimize the spread of any virus within communities.

Therefore immediately there will be

NO CASH TRANSACTIONS

Sales will be DEBIT or CREDIT CARD ONLY (Preferably use of tap)

Because of recommendation of personal space (2 meters)

ONLY ONE PERSON WILL BE SERVED AT A TIME WITHIN OUR STATIONS

Anyone who has experience any flu like symptoms in the last 14 days (to

include fever, cough, respiratory illness, difficulty breathing) should

refrain from coming to the station until symptoms have passed.

Please be advised that the MICG office will be closed to the public until further notice as of 23 March 2020.

There is no evidence that the virus is in our community but we have to take all precautions that the Federal and Provincial Health Departments are recommending since this past weekend such as working from home where possible.

MICG Staff are able to work from home but may need to attend the MICG Office from time to time.

THE ADVANCED WATER TREATMENT CENTRE WILL REMAIN OPEN TO PUBLIC.
WE ASK USERS TO PRACTISE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES BY WASHING HANDS BEFORE YOU COME TO COLLECT WATER AND ONCE YOU ARRIVE HOME. ANYONE EXPERIENCING FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS, PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE COLLECT YOUR WATER FOR YOU. DISINFECTION WIPES ARE AVAILABLE AT BUILDING TO CLEAN FAUCETS BEFORE AND AFTER COLLECTING WATER.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES REGARIDING COVID-19

Starting today, the Makkovik Inuit Community Government will be closing the Town Administration Office to the public until further notice. MICG Administration Staff will be given the option to work at home. These measures are as a result of the Federal Government advisory.

Precautionary Measures Regarding the COVID-19

The Makkovik Inuit Community Government will be suspending activities and functions at all of its facilities as of March 16 2020 until further notice.

These measures are as a precaution as per the social distancing advisory of two meters to avoid the potential spread of this virus in our community.

All non-essential travel by MICG staff is also postponed at this time.

MICG will be monitoring the updates about this situation as they arise.
